Australians can pay Bitcoin at 3,500 Australian post offices now
Australian residents can now pay bitcoins in more than 3,500 national post offices. The new service from Bitcoin.com.au aims to promote cryptocurrencies in public as well as in established companies and organizations.
On June 24, 2020, Bitcoin.com.au announced a partnership with local Australian Post. The collaboration enables Australian residents to easily buy Bitcoin (BTC) from 3,500 national post offices. In principle, each member of the branch accepts EFTPOS payments and Australian dollars for the purchase of crypto assets on Bitcoin.com.au and the Post Billpay service.
Bitcoin.com.au, a company that already works with 1,500 retail stores across the country, will make shopping easier. This collaboration is based on a partnership with Blueshyft and also offers Australians the opportunity to buy BTC.
“This is an important step for the digital currency in Australia and around the world. This shows that there are established companies and organizations that want to learn more about new technologies by doing so rather than blocking, "said Holger Arians, CEO of Bitcoin.com.au, during the announcement. Arians added:
Our mission is to make Bitcoin safe and easy for all Australians. For many people, it seems safer to pay Bitcoin at an Australian post office than to transfer money online, especially for first-time buyers. We are proud of this partnership and thank Australia Post for their continued openness to new technologies.
The Australia Post believes that it has been at the forefront of innovation since its inception 200 years ago. Adding BTC support to more than 3,500 Australia Post branches across the country will improve the accessibility of people living in the country.
"Australia Post has long played an important role in the community by making services accessible to everyone," said Susan Nicholson, director of commercial and government financial services at Australia Post. Nicholson added:
Post Billpay has been one of the most reliable payment methods for invoices in Australia for over 20 years. We are now pleased to offer you the opportunity to pay Bitcoin bills at a post office, including an update to the product level that enables identification verification and confirmation of payment of bills in real time to the biller.
The announcement by Australia Post and Bitcoin.com.au was first released on May 4, 2020. The May announcement provides Australians with step-by-step instructions on how to take advantage of Australia Post's Bitcoin purchases.
Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies have become very popular in Australia as the latest service from the Australia Post Stores follows the recent partnership between Coca-Cola Amatil and Centrapay. Thanks to this collaboration, more than 2,000 Coca-Cola machines in Australia and New Zealand accept Bitcoins (BTC) for their purchases.
